This Privacy Policy explains how Proof Embed ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use proofembed.com, the Proof Embed application, and our review widgets (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Account information. Your name, email address, and password (stored as a salted hash) when you create an account.
  • Billing information. When you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor collects your payment card details and billing address. We never store full card numbers on our servers.
  • Support communications. Messages you send to us, such as emails to support.

Information from your Google Business Profile

When you connect a Google Business Profile, we access your business listing and its public reviews through Google's APIs with your authorization. This includes the business name, rating, review text, reviewer display names, profile photos, and review dates. We use this data solely to render and sync your review widgets.

Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or allow humans to read it except with your consent, for security purposes, or to comply with the law.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data. Pages visited, features used, and actions taken inside the dashboard.
  • Device and log data. IP address, browser type, operating system, referring pages, and timestamps.
  • Widget analytics. Aggregate impression counts for widgets served on your website. Our widgets do not track, profile, or store personal data about your website's visitors.

2. How We Use Information

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including syncing reviews and serving widgets.
  • Process subscriptions, payments, and refunds.
  • Respond to support requests and send service-related notices.
  • Monitor performance, debug issues, and improve the Service.
  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising.

3. How We Share Information

We share information only with:

  • Service providers. Vendors that host our infrastructure, process payments, deliver emails, and provide analytics, each bound by contractual confidentiality obligations.
  • Google. To the extent required to operate the Google Business Profile connection you authorize.
  • Legal authorities. When required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Proof Embed, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your data.

4. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to secure the Service, and optional analytics cookies to understand how the marketing site is used. The widgets we serve on your website do not set tracking cookies on your visitors' browsers.

5. Data Retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. Synced review data is refreshed on a schedule and replaced on each sync. If you disconnect your Google Business Profile, we delete the associated review data within 30 days. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where a longer retention period is required by law (for example, billing records).

6. Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and least-privilege practices for our systems and staff. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard measures.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Residents of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom have these rights under the GDPR; California residents have similar rights under the CCPA/CPRA. To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@proofembed.com. We will respond within 30 days. You may also revoke Proof Embed's access to your Google data at any time via your Google Account permissions.

8. International Transfers

We may process and store information on servers located outside of your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for transfers of personal data.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date above reflects the current version.
