Google Review QR Codes, Answered
Is this Google review QR code generator really free? ▾
Yes. No account, no trial, no signup wall. Search your business and create as many codes as you need, or paste your review link or place ID straight into the search box.
What does the QR code actually link to? ▾
It encodes your direct Google review link, which looks like search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=YOUR_ID. Scanning it opens the Google review dialog for your business with the stars ready to tap, so customers skip searching for you entirely.
Can I customize the card design? ▾
Yes. Pick any of the six card styles, then edit the headline, show or hide the stars and your business name, and choose an accent color. Every card keeps the QR code black on white, which is what scans most reliably, and the code uses high error correction, so the small Proof Embed logo in its center never gets in the way of scanning.
Does the QR code ever expire? ▾
No. The code is a static image that points at your permanent review link, and your place ID stays the same for as long as your Google Business Profile exists. Print it once and it keeps working, with no subscription needed to keep it alive.
Is there a daily limit? ▾
Searching and creating codes from the suggestions is unlimited. Only the deeper Google Maps search, the one for businesses with hidden addresses, is limited to 3 runs per day because each one costs us an API call. The counter resets at midnight UTC, and pasting a review link or place ID never counts against anything.
What size should I print it? ▾
The card downloads are already true print size: the PNG is 300 DPI with the physical size baked into the file, so a 4 x 6 card prints as a 4 x 6 card. For the plain QR code, a safe rule is one tenth of the scan distance: a code scanned from arm’s length should be at least 2 x 2 cm (about 1 inch). Download the SVG for large formats, it stays sharp at any size. Always test a scan with your phone before printing a big batch.
Do my customers need a special app to scan it? ▾
No. The built-in camera on iPhone and Android recognizes QR codes automatically. Customers point their camera, tap the link, and land on your Google review form. They do need to be signed in to a Google account to leave the review, which nearly everyone on Android already is.
Is asking for reviews with a QR code against Google’s rules? ▾
Asking is completely fine and Google encourages it. What violates Google’s policy is offering money or discounts for reviews, and review gating, meaning only asking happy customers while steering unhappy ones away. Show the same code to everyone and let the reviews speak.
My business does not show up in the search. What now? ▾
Add your city or street to the search, for example "Blue Fern Coffee Boulder". If it still does not appear, your Google Business Profile may not be verified yet, and you can set one up free at google.com/business. Once verified, your business will be searchable here.
Can I track how many people scan the code? ▾
The code links directly to Google’s review form with no redirect in between, so there is nothing to track and nothing that can break or be taken hostage later. If you want scan analytics, use a link shortener with tracking as the QR target, at the cost of depending on that service staying up.
